MINSK, 2 April (BelTA) – The creation of a Belarusian-Russian common food market matches goals of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. The statement was made by State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Grigory Rapota during the press conference held on 2 April on the occasion of the Day of Unity of Peoples of Belarus and Russia, BelTA has learned.
Grigory Rapota said: “As far as the common food market — and the unification of approaches to the industrial policy and agriculture — is concerned, such an accomplishment is fully in line with the main goals and tasks of the Union State.”
In turn, Ambassador of Russia to Belarus Alexander Surikov added that this idea of the Agriculture and Food Ministry requires serious thinking about. The food market needs to be truly common, he noted.
“All the regulations such an accomplishment requires are already in place. There is no need to devise more of them. Every year we agree food import and export figures within the framework of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. Regulations on resolving disputes about the quality of products have been worked out and polished within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. We just have to properly use these instruments,” added Grigory Rapota.
