MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian Peace Fund consolidates the general public for the sake of good deeds. The opinion was voiced by Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Igor Buzovsky before the solemn meeting held on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the public association Belarusian Peace Fund, BelTA has learned.
Igor Buzovsky remarked that the Belarusian Peace Fund’s efforts are reflected not in words but in deeds as part of concrete projects and programs as well as in positive feedback from the general public. “We witness all kinds of large-scale events timed to Victory Day, to state holidays and events meant to preserve and propagate such notions as peace and social justice. These are the invariable values that the Republic of Belarus has painstakingly preserved and is trying to propagate,” said the Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration.
Unfortunately, seemingly unalterable values like peace are sometimes re-evaluated today. In Belarus this value still remains incontestable and indisputable, noted Igor Buzovsky.
The Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration also noted that 55 years is a serious date that can describe the public organization as mature and gives a reason to recount its deeds, including in the last few years. In his words, the government will develop and support efforts of the Belarusian Peace Fund. “If state support is necessary, it will always be granted,” said Igor Buzovsky.
The solemn event took place in the Belarusian State Philharmonic in Minsk on 13 May. The event gathered state and public figures of Belarus, representatives of executive and legislative bodies, heads of religious confessions, active proponents of peacemaking from the regions of Belarus, delegations of peacemaking organizations from a number of countries, and representatives of the diplomatic corps.
The event became the largest forum of Belarusian peacemakers in the last 20 years. During the event major milestones in the history of the Belarusian Peace Fund were recalled as well as the organization’s current contribution to the country’s creative life.
