MINSK, 9 May (BelTA) – Victory Day serves as a symbol of peace, BelTA learned from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming, who took part in the wreath-laying ceremony near the Victory Monument in Minsk on 9 May.
The diplomat noted that Victory Day is also a day of peace. “In addition, the Belarusian nation has made a very important contribution to the victory over the Nazi,” said Cui Qiming.
During the historical visit to Belarus China President Xi Jinping met with Belarusian war veterans, who fought against Japanese aggressors at the end of World War Two, and bestowed a Medal of Peace upon them. The Chinese nation, which has also suffered great losses during the war, is grateful to Soviet soldiers for their accomplishments and deeds, stressed the Ambassador.
