WUHAN, 15 May (BelTA) – Investment in Belarus from China’s Hubei Province will be increasing, First Vice Governor of Hubei Province Huang Chuoping said at the meeting with the Belarusian delegation led by Brest Oblast Vice Governor Andrei Klets in Wuhan as part of the seminar Belt and Road. Getting to Know Hubei, BelTA informs.

Huang Chuoping stressed that the Belt and Road concept helped expand contacts with many foreign countries, including Belarus. “Your country is located in the center of Europe and has good potential for cooperation in logistics and trade. These advantages should be actively used with mutual benefit. The international seminar will help strengthen the partnership between Hubei and Belarus, including Brest Oblast,” said Huang Chuoping.

In his opinion, China’s increasing investment in Belarus will be a major contribution to the implementation of the Belt and Road concept. The first vice governor mentioned the important role that Hubei plays in the new Silk Road project. The province, which is located in the central part of China, is crossed by air, railway, water (the Yangtze River) and road routes.

In turn, Andrei Klets spoke about the advantages of cooperation with Belarus. In his words, Brest Oblast and Hubei Province are linked by long-standing ties of friendship and twinning relations. The strongest impetus was added to the bilateral ties after the visit of China's President Xi Jinping to Belarus in 2015.

Andrei Klets stressed that over the past two years about 20 Belarusian-Chinese meetings and negotiations at various levels took place between representatives of Brest Oblast and Hubei Province. He also noted the importance of the fact that railway containers from Wuhan to Europe and back go via Brest.
