MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) - China views the visit of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko as a landmark event in the Belarusian-Chinese relations in 2016, Meng Jianzhu, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China, said as he met with the Belarusian head of state on 18 August, BelTA has learned.
Meng Jianzhu stressed that one of the reasons for his arrival to Belarus with a big Chinese delegation was to prepare for the visit of the Belarusian leader to China. “We hope that we will work productively in Belarus and will make our contribution to the development of traditionally friendly bilateral relations,” he said.
The Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China extended the best greetings from China President Xi Jinping who is waiting for the visit of Alexander Lukashenko to Beijing in September.
The Chinese guest remarked that after the forthcoming top-level talks Belarus and China are expected to sign a number of important documents aimed at enhancing the legal framework of cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the People’s Republic of China.
According to the Chinese side, the visit of Alexander Lukashenko to China should give a new impetus to the development of relations between the two states.
