China supports Belarus’ efforts to ensure independence

MINSK, 21 December (BelTA) – China supports Belarus’ efforts to ensure independence, Spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Wang Wenbin said at a press conference in Beijing, BelTA has learned.

Journalists asked for the official opinion on the sanctions imposed by some countries against Belarus after the presidential election in the country. In this regard, Wang Wenbin stressed that “China firmly supports the efforts of Belarus to ensure national independence, sovereignty, security and development, and strongly opposes the attempts by external force to cause a split and upheaval in the Belarusian society”. According to the spokesperson, China has always been against the use or threat of unilateral sanctions in international relations.

“The government and people of Belarus have the ability and wisdom to solve their own problems and restore political stability and peace in the society,” Wang Wenbin stressed.
