MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) – The opening of the office of the China Development Bank (CDB) in Minsk will help intensify Belarus-China cooperation and facilitate the implementation of new large-scale projects in economy, investment and infrastructure, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of Belarus Sergei Kalechits said at an official ceremony to open the CDB office in Minsk on 16 October 2018, BelTA has learned.
He welcomed the opening of the CDB office as a remarkable event which is in keeping with bilateral agreements and chimes in with the spirit of strategic partnership between Belarus and China. According to Sergei Kalechits, the opening of the CDB office will give a fresh impetus to trade and investment contacts.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming informed that 15 projects are being implemented in Belarus with the help of the China Development Bank. He expressed confidence that more projects will come.
The China Development Bank is China’s first financial institution that opened its office in Belarus, the diplomat noted.
This bank pays close attention to projects run by the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park Great Stone and overall to projects implemented within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
