MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) – Traditional friendship and cooperation between the armed forces of China and Belarus continue strengthening, Military and Air Attache at the Chinese embassy in Belarus Sheng Yuezhong said at the event to mark the 90th anniversary of the China People’s Liberation Army on 28 July, BelTA has learned.
The Chinese official stressed that cooperation got a boost after the two heads of state decided to take the Belarusian-Chinese relations onto a level of trust-based comprehensive strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation. The attache expressed confidence that military and military-technical cooperation between Belarus and China will be expanding in the future.
He also spoke about the history of formation of the China People’s Liberation Army. On 1 August 1927 the Communist Party of China started am armed uprising in the city of Nanchang to win national independence and in the end announced the establishment of a new type of the people’s army under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. “Over the past 90 years the People’s Liberation Party went through an agrarian revolutionary war, a war of resistance and a national liberation war. After the establishment of the People’s Republic of China the army has modernized and turned into an army of combined arms formations,” Sheng Yuezhong stressed.
According to the attache, as part of the policy of reforms and openness, and especially after the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the army launched another wave of modernization. Its activity is aimed at securing national defense. The number of servicemen is reduced, with the focus placed on enhancing efficiency.
“The fates of China and the entire world are closely interlinked. The wellbeing and stability in the world open new opportunities for China’s development. In turn, China’s peaceful development opens up big opportunities for the whole world. China is a peace-loving nation. The path of peaceful development is a strategic choice. China pursues an independent peaceful foreign and defense policy,” Sheng Yuezhong said.
He also stressed that China speaks against various forms of hegemonism and the policy of force. “The China army will remain a reliable force in protecting the state sovereignty, security and peace and stability worldwide,” the attache said.
