MINSK, 9 January (BelTA) - Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko extended gratitude to all the participants of the Christmas charity campaign “Our Children” in the ceremony to present For Spiritual Revival awards, special culture and art prizes and the Belarusian Sports Olympus awards, BelTA has learned.

“Literally everyone, from businessmen to public servants and military personnel, have been visiting children’s institutions during the period from the Catholic Christmas till the Old New Year. This is amazing. This is the way it should be. I thank everyone, thousands and thousands of people who took part in the campaign, who have come to visit the children who need help,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

The head of state noted that it is impossible to honor all people. Those who responded to the president's call and came to see the kids during the Christmas and New Year holidays are very many. The eyes of a child glow with so much joy when he has somebody to visit him, to wish him well. He will remember these moments for the rest of his life. He understands that the state needs him,” the Belarusian leader noted.

The nationwide Our Children charity campaign is held under the patronage of the President of Belarus. Heads of the national government bodies, local executive and regulatory agencies visit children’s schools, foster families, children’s hospitals, bring presents and provide assistance in solving the current issues.
