MINSK, 5 March (BelTA) – There is a need to deepen equal cooperation between Belarus and Russia, Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia’s Federal Assembly Valentina Matviyenko said as she met with Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of Belarus’ National Assembly Natalya Kochanova in Minsk on 5 March, BelTA has learned.

“The responsibility of this generation of politicians is to preserve and protect all the valuable things that bind our countries and peoples, and, of course, to deepen and expand equal mutually beneficial cooperation, taking into account the views and interests of each other,” Valentina Matviyenko said.

She expressed confidence that Belarusian and Russian MPs will not only use the positive experience gained by their predecessors but will also expand cooperation. “We will look for new effective formats, contacts. In any case, the parliamentary dialogue is very important,” Valentina Matviyenko said. The speaker also drew attention to the possibility “to hold the dialogue in a sincere manner, without choosing words.”
The MPs exchange views, talk about problems, discuss approaches and vision of the processes that are taking place in the world. Today's talks in Minsk are held in this manner.
