MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) – Belarus should put more efforts into raising the awareness about the tourism opportunities the country has. The statement was made by First Deputy Director General of the Russian news agency TASS Mikhail Gusman during 24th meeting of the CIS Mass Media Heads Council (the CIS Information Council) in Minsk on 19 April, BelTA has learned.
According to Mikhail Gusman, Belarus’ tourism opportunities are not sufficiently revealed. The fact has an effect on the number of tourists coming to Belarus. In his opinion, Belarus has great opportunities for developing farm tourism. The national park Belovezhskaya Pushcha is part of the world heritage and an attractive place of interest. More steps should be taken to raise the awareness about tourism opportunities in Belarus. It will allow foreigners to learn about the country. Myths will be dispelled.
Viktor Guminsky, First Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, First Deputy CIS Executive Secretary, backed the opinion. He noted that tourism opportunities of the CIS states are not sufficiently advertised.
Viktor Guminsky said: “It is necessary to give as much information as possible about the wealth our countries have. It will encourage interest in culture, history of the countries, the desire to visit the countries to get familiar with them. Tourism opportunities in the CIS states are inexhaustible.” Speaking about the development of tourism in Belarus, he noted that tourism industry can make a real contribution to the national economy.
