GRODNO, 3 November (BelTA) - State investments in the social sector foster long-term economic benefits, Deputy Head of Belarus’ President Administration Igor Buzovsky told reporters.
“When analyzing the economic processes in the region and the country as a whole, some perceive the social sector as cost-intensive. But if we take a bigger picture and calculate the economics of every particular social object, we will see that this sector is far from being costly and is in fact a revenue-bringing part of the budget,” Igor Buzovsky noted.
“In the long term, thanks to the well-developed healthcare, education and culture, people do not get sick and do not use sick leaves, and can work effectively. Their attitude towards work, their knowledge and skills make it possible to develop innovative projects and thereby contribute to the economy much more,” he said.
“Investments which the state makes in the social sphere are long-term and smart. Today, the result may not be as noticeable. But I am sure it will be more tangible in the future,” Igor Buzovsky said.
On 3 November Igor Buzovsky participated in a meeting of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee which reviewed the social and economic performance of the region in January-September. He also visited secondary school No. 39 in Grodno, Grodnooblkinovideoprokat facilities, Grodno youth center where he became acquainted with the ideas of schoolchildren and students submitted for the city tour of the 100 Ideas for Belarus nationwide contest. “It is nice to see that people in Grodno Oblast, according to the latest sociological research, are concerned not over domestic problems but also the education of youth even in these difficult economic times. Indeed, crises come and go. It is the younger generation who will build the future,” he noted.
Igor Buzovsky commended Grodno Oblast for the projects for young people. For example, the youth center was created in the former cinema house. Investment were used in a smart way. The center has added value. It meets the needs of young people,” he added.
