MOSCOW, 19 March (BelTA) – Belarus is a reliable and stable partner of other Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states, CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha said during his meeting with Belarusian journalists in Moscow on 19 March, BelTA has learned.
“Belarusian authorities always actively participate in the sessions of the Collective Security Council. Belarus’ representatives frequently put forward new initiatives. We successfully conduct military exercises on the Belarusian territory. The joint Belarus-Russia group of forces is the outpost in the region of Eastern Europe where the situation, unfortunately, is becoming more and more volatile. The exercises jointly held by the Belarusian and Russian armed forces demonstrate the high level of combat readiness of their units,” Nikolai Bordyuzha noted.
He also said that the CSTO is planning to hold a number of military exercises in 2015. For example, Armenia will host exercises of CSTO's peacekeeping forces. Another military exercise will be conducted on the territory of Russia with the participation of the Collective Rapid Reaction Force. The drug control services of the CSTO member states will hold military exercises in Tajikistan. Nikolai Bordyuzha said that these exercises will be also conducted on the territory of Belarus.
