ASHGABAT, 26 March (BelTA) – Belarus and Turkmenistan have a huge potential of cooperation in trade and economy, on the international arena, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said as he met with Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich in Ashgabat on 26 March, BelTA has learned.
The leader of Turkmenistan emphasized that he is satisfied with the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries. He praised a big positive role of the intergovernmental commission in this process. Belarusian equipment is in demand in the agricultural industry, construction, oil and gas complex and other areas.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov believes that the joint project to build the Garlyk mining and processing factory is important for the entire region of Central Asia. “It is just the beginning, and we expect more,” the president said. He sees good prospects in the development of the chemical industry in Turkmenistan with the support of Belarus. “There is a good potential, and we must use it,” the president believes.
He thanked Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and the whole country for the efforts to strengthen bilateral ties with Turkmenistan.
Mikhail Myasnikovich, in turn, noted that all the agreements reached during the visit of the Turkmenistan president to Belarus, after the meeting with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko are being implemented. These are not one-time projects. “We are expanding cooperation in various fields,” he said.
Mikhail Myasnikovich also mentioned high-tech cooperation. For instance, Belarus will deliver two unmanned aerial complexes to Turkmenistan. In his opinion, the personnel training center is another promising project.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov praised Belarus-Turkmenistan cooperation in the humanitarian sector, especially in education. He remarked that young people from Turkmenistan get education in all Belarusian universities.
