Belarusian State University awards professor emeritus title to Pakistan prime minister

MINSK, 11 August (BelTA) – The title of professor emeritus awarded by the Belarusian State University is a great honor. Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif made the statement during his lecture in the Belarusian State University on 11 August, BelTA has learned.

“Getting the professor emeritus title from this major university for my modest contribution to the advancement of Pakistani-Belarusian relations is a cause of great pride for me and my country,” reads the note left by the Pakistan Prime Minister in the university’s distinguished visitors’ book.

“It was a great pleasure for me to be in the Belarusian State University today,” the note continues. Nawaz Sharif pointed out that the university has worked since 1921 and has enriched the intellect of several generations. Apart from that, the Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the establishment of ties between the Belarusian State University and Pakistani universities.

Belarusian State University awards professor emeritus title to Pakistan prime ministerThe ceremony to award the professor emeritus diploma to Nawaz Sharif took place in the administration of the Belarusian State University on 11 August. The diploma and the mantle were presented by BSU Rector Sergei Ablameiko. The official also told media that memorandums of understanding had been signed between the Belarusian State University and the Foreign Service Academy of the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Comsats Institute of Information Technology.

In his lecture Nawaz Sharif underlined that it is important for Pakistan to advance cooperation with Belarus in all spheres. In turn, Sergei Ablameiko noted that Pakistan is the world’s sixth largest country in terms of population numbers and that it plays an important role in its region and the world as a whole.Belarusian State University awards professor emeritus title to Pakistan prime minister
