MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) – The sport facility Raubichi boasts excellent conditions for international competitions, BelTA learned from President of the Russian Biathlon Union Vladimir Drachev on 18 February.
The official said: “The Legends Race gives me pleasure. I feel joy from coming back to my friends, with whom I raced here many years ago. The Raubichi Stadium has been greatly renewed: there are good tracks, a shooting range, it deserves every bit of praise. It offers excellent conditions for hosting international competitions”. Vladimir Drachev also noted that while racing he is an athlete, not a sport functionary and craves victory.
“The snow is slippery, the skis are good. To tell you the truth, I get tired fast,” Vladimir Drachev made a joke.
The Olympic champion Sergei Chepikov mentioned strong support of the spectators. He said he was glad to get back to the track, along which he raced back in 1991. “I think our performance will be good. One can feel difference in class since some finished their careers only 2-3 years ago and there are some, who haven’t competed for 10-15 years. These competitions are not arranged for the sake of awards. They also offer an excellent opportunity to meet with long-time rivals,” Sergei Chepikov said.
It is the third time the Legends Race has been arranged. The previous festivals took place in 2015 and 2016.
