MINSK, 30 August (BelTA) – The parliaments of Belarus and Poland should work with a maximum performance factor. Deputy Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Marianna Shchetkina made the statement as she met with Vice Speaker of the lower chamber of the Polish parliament Ryszard Terlecki on 30 August, BelTA has learned.
Marianna Shchetkina said: “The peoples of Belarus and Poland historically stand together and we will always be together. It is objective reality. A great deal depends on our interparliamentary relations, this is why we should work as hard as possible with the maximum performance factor”.
In turn, Ryszard Terlecki thanked the Belarusian side for the warm welcome and underlined that the visit to Belarus was extremely important. “It was exceedingly important for us to arrange this visit. We visited Belarus slightly more than one year ago. Back then we renewed contacts and cooperation after several years of stagnation in our relations. I can say that the last 12 months have not been wasted: we now have active contacts in many spheres and we are definitely moving forward and will continue advancing our cooperation,” said Ryszard Terlecki.
The Belarusian-Russian strategic army exercise Zapad 2017 was also discussed during the meeting.
