Belarusian PM: MILEX is a well-recognized brand
MINSK, 23 June (BelTA) – MILEX is a well-recognized brand that embodies the innovation and quality of the Belarusian defense industry, Belarusian Prime Minister said during a ceremony to open the international defense technology expo MILEX 2021 in Minsk on 23 June, BelTA has learned.
“Despite all the difficulties, the organizers made every effort to put together this event important for our country and the region, gathering friends, partners and colleagues, the people who are working on a very important and necessary thing – design and production of modern weapons and military hardware to ensure defense and security not only of our country, not only our strategic partner and ally Russian Federation, but also a number of states in all regions of the world,” Roman Golovchenko said. “This event has grown from a small exhibition pavilion into a large-scale forum. Today MILEX is a well-recognized brand, embodying the intellect, quality and innovation of the Belarusian military-industrial complex.”
The prime minister noted that Belarus is pursuing a peace-loving foreign policy. "We have always called, at all levels, for a new detente on the continent, a new comprehensive system of European security. We have always sought and reaffirmed our willingness to strengthen good mutually beneficial relations with all countries and peoples. At the same time, given the difficult situation in the world, due to the next attempts of aggression, an economic one for the time being, we focus on strengthening our defense capabilities,” he stressed. “Thanks to the legacy of the Soviet military-industrial complex, which Belarus has preserved and multiplied, thanks to the hard work and talent of Belarusian developers, Belarus will always retain a worthy place in the elite community of developers of weapons and military hardware. The issues of technological security of the state, especially in such sensitive field as defense capability, are undoubtedly extremely important. If you like, this is part of state sovereignty. Therefore, ensuring technological independence, import substitution, development of industrial cooperation with our strategic allies has become a priority of state policy in the military-technical field.”
In terms of scale and goals, participants and infrastructure, MILEX is considered one of the largest expos in the Eastern European region. Since 2001, this large-scale defense industry expo has traditionally attracted the attention of major domestic and foreign manufacturers of military products. Its main goals are to showcase the products of the Belarusian defense industry, innovative solutions, and to demonstrate the capabilities of enterprises in upgrading, overhauling military hardware and providing services to the Armed Forces.
MILEX 2021 is featuring over 300 samples of cutting-edge weapons, military hardware, and special hardware of Belarusian make alone. As many as 177 of them are showcased for the first time. Eighty-eight products are upgraded ones.
