MINSK, 13 December (BelTA) – Ministries should focus on a long-term industrial policy, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the Second Congress of Scientists of Belarus in Minsk on 13 December, BelTA has learned.
“Today, we need to clarify the priorities and specify overriding scientific tasks. Under present-day conditions, with our industrial companies gaining more independence, the ministries should focus on the most promising areas and on the long-term industrial policy, strengthen the role of design bureaus,” said Alexander Lukashenko.
According to the president, it is necessary to intensify the development of the material and technical base of factory research laboratories, centers and pilot production facilities.
“All scientific organizations need to accelerate the preparation and implementation of their research and development works. Joint efforts are needed to ensure the approbation of innovations and their commercialization. We cannot afford spending years on scientific research and commercialization. Foreign competitors will develop similar products and bring them to the markets, including ours,” the head of state said.
