MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) – International experts are enthusiastic about the works demonstrated by young Belarusian fashion designers during the 25th national fashion and photo festival and contest Fashion Mill, BelTA has learned.
Sanita Blomniece, supervisor of the international young fashion designers contest Habitus Baltija, representative of the professional expo Baltic Fashion & Textile Riga (Latvia), told BelTA that she has already invited Belarusian fashion designers to take part in several international projects.
Sanita Blomniece said: “It’s the second time I am here and I am just delighted by some of the collections! I’ve already invited colleagues to take part in the professional expo Baltic Fashion & Textile Riga.” She went on saying she was pleased to be a member of the Fashion Mill panel of judges.
Her delight is shared by Jerzy Marian Gawel, director and professor of the Krakow School of Art and Fashion Design (Poland). Jerzy Marian Gawel underlined that a magnificent education environment for beginner fashion designers had been created in Belarus.
Thanks to partnership contacts between organizers of the Fashion Mill festival and foreign organizations and institutions specializing in photography, fashion, and apparel design the Belarusian festival Fashion Mill is widely known among students and pedagogues in the education system as well as professional fashion designers in Belarus and abroad. Thanks to participation in the Fashion Mill Belarusian professional education institutions cooperate with many foreign fashion design education institutions and organizing committees of international contests. Every year the Belarusian Education Ministry institutes a special prize — International Creative Workshops.
Belarusian Deputy Education Minister Viktor Yakzhik told BelTA that various demonstrations of apparel collections, creative meetings in foreign fashion design education institutions help shape the mindset of the Fashion Mill participants in addition to helping them to understand what experimentation and quest are all about. “The Belarusian project Fashion Mill is developing, becoming stable, and plays a considerable role in nurturing harmonious modern people,” said the official.
The festival’s gala performance will take place in the Sport Palace in the evening of 13 May. The final stage of the 25th national fashion and photo festival and contest Fashion Mill will feature over 80 collections by Belarusian fashion designers. The best designers will be determined in several nominations such as Fashion School, Fashion Master, Photo, Debut Model of the Festival, Top Model of the Festival, Style Master. The judging panel includes internationally recognized experts, specialists in the area of fashion and apparel design from Russia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, and Malaysia.
