MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – There can be no little things in the operation of the government. Head of the Belarus President Administration Natalya Kochanova made the statement as she presented new top government officials to personnel of the Office of the Council of Ministers on 20 August, BelTA has learned.

Sergei Rumas has been appointed prime minister of Belarus. Alexander Turchin is now the first deputy prime minister of Belarus. The deputy prime ministers are Igor Lyashenko, Vladimir Kukharev, and Igor Petrishenko. Mikhail Rusy will continue working as a deputy prime minister. Functions will be distributed among the prime ministers by the corresponding government resolution this week.

The head of the Belarus President Administration said: “I think that Sergei Nikolayevich [Rumas] will once again look at the structure of the government and functions of every official. The head of state wants the functionality put in order. Some adjustments may follow. The head of government will notify when such decisions are made.”

Natalya Kochanova pointed out that the Belarus President Administration and the government work together and aim to achieve effective joint fruitful work. Primarily work to fulfill instructions given by the head of state and outlined in his address to the nation and the parliament this year, the tasks outlined during the Fifth Belarusian People’s Congress, and during government conferences held by the president. “All the instructions and tasks should be accomplished. The nation, the people are what matters. It is the key ideology and politics.”

The head of the Belarus President Administration reminded that the development of all regions of the country is the key task set by the head of state. A lot of work has been done to develop agrotowns and oblast capitals. It is now necessary to take care of medium-size cities with the populations of over 50,000-80,000 people. “It is necessary to have a look at how they live and work, how they grow because workforce redistribution is extremely important in our country,” she noted. “It is necessary to accomplish the goals set by the president in order to develop all the regions. We cannot think that people should live and work in Minsk only. We need highly effective enterprises in every town and district so that people could understand that they have jobs.”

“Every government employee should once again look at and focus on the key aspects the president has talked about. Every civil servant should take all measures in order to reach these goals,” concluded Natalya Kochanova and wished fruitful work and every success to the renewed government.
