MINSK, 12 April (BelTA) – Belarus pursues an effective youth policy, Belarus’ Education Minister Igor Karpenko told BelTA.
Minsk played host to the CIS Youth Council meeting on 12 April. Igor Karpenko stressed that it was an honor for Belarus to host such an important event. He pointed out that Belarus has something to be proud of in the youth policy. The country has developed a serious legislation framework in youth affairs, adopted policy documents that determine major activities of the youth policy and the sources of their financing. The 100 Ideas for Belarus contest held under the aegis of the BRSM Youth Union has become a tradition. Such a practice is becoming commonplace in the CIS. The exhibition-presentation 100 Ideas for the CIS opened in Minsk on 12 April.
During the meeting Igor Karpenko talked about the development of Belarus’ education system, the measures taken to support talented youth and young families.
The minister stressed that Belarus understands that self-realization is very important for young people. By participating in such projects, they can prove themselves in art, science, sport, social activities, youth parliamentarism. “These are important components of the overarching policy designed to help young citizens take over our young, independent, and sovereign state from the hands of the older generations,” concluded Igor Karpenko.
