MINSK, 13 July (BelTA) – Belarus is working toward full removal of the U.S. sanctions, Charge d’Affaires a.i. of Belarus in the United States Pavel Shidlovsky told the media on 13 July, BelTA has learned.
“The relations between Belarus and the United States are developing. The process is quite stable. We have been moving toward normalization for the past several years. There is a movement toward us, but certain stereotypes still persist, and the U.S. sanctions have not been removed completely. The sanctions imposed on the Belneftekhim enterprises have been suspended. We are working toward full removal of the sanctions,” Pavel Shidlovsky noted.
He pointed out that the improvement of the atmosphere of the bilateral relations between Belarus and the United States creates conditions for strengthening cooperation in a number of areas, including trade, economy, and investments.
“We are developing dialogue with the new U.S. administration. The Belarusian deputy minister of foreign affairs has paid a visit to the United States, and political consultations with the Department of State have been held. We maintain positive ties with the Department of State and other U.S. agencies. The United States supports Belarus’ sovereignty and independence, and the support for economic independence is one of the components of this support. The economic ties between the two countries are growing stronger as a result,” Pavel Shidlovsky said.
