MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) – Belarus is favor of a strong and united Europe and advocates a sustainable Eurasian-Atlantic partnership, including cooperation in defense and politics, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said at an expert conference “Eastern Partnership at 10: Results and Ways Forward” on 4 June, BelTA has learned.
“Trust and removal of barriers are key to maintaining stability in the region. Therefore, Belarus wants a strong and united Europe and advocates a sustainable Eurasian-Atlantic partnership, including cooperation in defense and politics. We are making practical steps in this direction,” the minister noted.
Vladimir Makei said that being a CSTO member Belarus restored military cooperation with the United Kingdom, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and the United States. “We are building contacts with the neighboring states that are Nato members in information exchange. We have made some progress in promoting cooperation between law enforcement agencies of the United States and the State Border Committee, the Investigative Committee, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus and other agencies. We would like to sign economic agreements with the United States, including a double taxation avoidance agreement,” the minister informed.
