MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) – Vietnam views Belarus as an important political and economic partner, President of the National Economics University of Hanoi Pham Hong Chuong said during an online business meeting “Belarus-Vietnam: New Horizons of Strategic Economic Partnership”, BelTA has learned.
“Even in such difficult times, we meet to support our firms, to connect supply and demand between the business communities of the two countries, to restore and further develop trade and economic cooperation. Our countries have a good history of cooperation. Vietnam considers Belarus an important political and economic partner. Belarus regards cooperation with Vietnam as one of the priorities of foreign policy in the Asian region and seeks to develop strategic partnership relations,” the professor noted.
According to Pham Hong Chuong, recently Belarus and Vietnam have been strengthening economic cooperation, implementing new projects to set up joint companies in Vietnam to produce dairy products from Belarusian raw materials, assemble buses and trucks.
As for foreign trade, the bilateral trade exceeded $200 million in 2019. “The volumes of exports and imports of goods have almost balanced out, which we can see for the first time in many years of our trade relations. The economies of Vietnam and Belarus are largely complementary. Belarusian firms are interested in the import of Vietnamese goods, including agricultural products and seafood, textile products and footwear, and also seek new exports to Vietnam,” the president of the university said.
