Belarus viewed as important part of Belt and Road project

MINSK, 16 April (BelTA) – Belarus is an important part of the Belt and Road project, Chen Chao, a reporter with China’s TV channel JSBC, told journalists during a visit to the Belarus-China industrial park Great Stone.

“Belarus plays an important role in the Belt and Road project. Beijing will host a summit of the initiative in late April so I have come to Belarus to find out more about the country and see how the project is progressing here,” Chen Chao said.

The Great Stone was the first facility the Chinese delegation visited during a press tour. According to the reporter, the Belarus-China industrial park surprises with the pace of its development. Chen Chao was pleased to find out that the park uses China’s best practices. He cited, in particular, the “one stop” comprehensive service center for residents and clients.

The chief correspondent of the China Radio International in Russia Wang Yuyun said she is also interested in the results Belarus has achieved since the launch of the Belt and Road initiative. “We know that the industrial park is a great example of the cooperation within the framework of the initiative,” Wang Yuyun said. The journalists wonder how the park contributes to the economic development of the two countries and the Belarusian industry, and how it helps improve the population’s welfare.

When asked about the Belt and Road facilities in other countries, Wang Yuyun said that she had never visited a facility of such a scale. “I work in Russia which also implements joint projects with China, but the Great Stone is the biggest facility of its kind. This is a very promising project,” she believes.

Chinese journalists have come to Belarus on a press tour which will last until 20 April. The press tour has been organized to promote and popularize Belarusian goods and services in China and to foster Belarus-China relations. On 16 April, the guests will visit the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone, the BNTU technological cluster Politechnik, the Resource Center EcoTechnoPark - VOLMA of the National Institute for Vocational Education, and the Chinese Language and Culture Department of Minsk State Linguistic University.

On 17 April, the journalists from China will visit the Mir Castle Complex, the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, and will go on an excursion around the historic center of Grodno. The program of the tour for 18 April includes a trip to the Molochny Mir and Bellakt dairy companies and a meeting with Grodno Oblast Governor Vladimir Kravtsov. The guests will also visit Game Stream company, a resident of the Belarusian Hi-Tech Park, and Dinamo Olympic Stadium where they will get familiar with the program of the 2nd European Games 2019 in Minsk. The delegation will then move to the Druzhba bookstore to attend a presentation of books by Chinese authors from the Mastatskaya Litaratura publishing house.
