MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) – The Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan is designed to strengthen bilateral cooperation, Deputy Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of Belarus’ National Assembly Marianna Shchetkina said as she met with Uzbekistan Ambassador to Belarus Nasirjan Yusupov on 26 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the Council of the Republic.
The parties discussed humanitarian, trade and economic partnership, focusing on preparation to the 1st Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan to be held in Minsk in early August. “We are ready to discuss the preparations for the forum to make it most useful for the two countries,” Marianna Shchetkina noted. “The mission of the forum is to bolster bilateral ties, facilitate business relations, help with joint projects,” she added.
The parties outlined priority cooperation areas, namely industry, agriculture, pharmaceutics, and education. Special attention was attached to ways to develop regional cooperation. The parties confirmed the importance to step up efforts to implement the roadmap for cooperation between the two countries.
