MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) – A Belarusian delegation is taking part in the 53rd session of the United Nations Commission for Social Development in the UN HQ in New York, the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry told BelTA.
During a high-level discussion about rethinking the role of social development in the modern world Yuri Ambrazevich, Head of the Multilateral Diplomacy Office of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, informed the participants about the Belarusian model, about the major avenues and accomplishments of Belarus in this area.
Yuri Ambrazevich remarked that Belarusian state investments in education, healthcare, professional training and the creation of new opportunities to enable employment and decent jobs will bring considerable social and economic results in the future.
As part of the rethinking of the role of social development Belarus’ representative shared the national experience of developing education programs and the creation of jobs connected with green economy in energy industry, transportation, and waste processing.
Yuri Ambrazevich stressed the need to pay proper attention to social support of young people, elderly people, and the disabled, to enhancing the traditional family institution in the future global development agenda for the period after 2015. The representative of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry called upon the United Nations Organization to contribute more to the implementation of national and international strategies, programs and initiatives meant to bolster the family as the basic cell of the society.
