MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) – Only by standing together we can resist the sanctions of the West, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Belarus Saeed Yari, BelTA has learned.
“Not only Iran, but also the Republic of Belarus, and our common partner Russia, have faced unprecedented sanctions, pressure from the United States of America and its allies. We know their goals very well - they are unseemly, to put it mildly. In fact, these are criminal goals. And, of course, only by uniting and acting together, we can survive in these conditions,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.
The speaker noted that the meeting took place in the run-up to Nowruz. “Therefore, I want to wish you Happy Nowruz! Best regards to you personally, and prosperity to your country,” he said.
Vladimir Andreichenko believes that the bilateral cooperation will expand on the back of the further development of the two countries. “As you remember, the presidents of our states met in Dushanbe in September last year and reached agreements in three important areas. They include the formation of a cooperation promotion roadmap, more intensive work of the mixed bilateral commission on economic cooperation, as well as the completion of investment projects. These issues and our inter-parliamentary cooperation were also discussed during my visit to your country for the inauguration of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi, and during the meeting with Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Parliament of Iran, last August. In September last year, Belarus submitted its proposals for this roadmap to the Iranian side during the meeting of foreign ministers within the framework of the UN General Assembly. We are interested in expanding our relations and hope that the proposals of the Belarusian side will be considered by your country in the near future,” he said.
The Iranian ambassador thanked Vladimir Andreichenko for the meeting. “I am very glad to have this opportunity to meet with you. First of all, I would like to convey best regards from Mr Ghalibaf. I would like to congratulate you and the Belarusian people on the successful conduct of the national referendum. The main goal of today’s meeting is to convey Mr Ghalibaf’s invitation for you to pay an official visit to Iran,” Saeed Yari said.
