MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – Belarus should adopt Finland’s best economic practices, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he appointed a new ambassador to Finland, BelTA has learned.
“Our positions are bad in Finland. Meanwhile, the country is very interesting for us. Some economic sectors are similar, especially woodworking industry. Belarus definitely needs to learn from Finland’s economic experience. We should work on the political rapprochement. But the most important thing is to have results in the economy,” the Belarusian leader said.
He asked Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei whether the new Belarusian ambassador Aleksei Samosuyev will cope with the task. The minister assured that the work to promote Belarus-Finland cooperation will be improved and characterized the ambassador as an experienced person.
