MINSK, 11 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Turkmenistan have similar positions on the international arena, Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said during the meeting with Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on 11 May, BelTA has learned.
The Turkmenistan head of state noted that Belarus and Turkmenistan have similar views on the need to ensure stability and security in the world; the countries promote these ideas in such international organization as the UN, OSCE, CIS.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked Alexander Lukashenko for the participation in the international conference “Policy of Neutrality: International Cooperation for Peace, Security and Development” in Turkmenistan in December 2015 and praised his speech at the forum.
Turkmenistan promotes an international initiative to develop transit transport corridors. The UN General Assembly has passed a corresponding resolution. This year Turkmenistan will host a specialized international forum, and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited the Belarusian leader to take part in this event.
The President of Turkmenistan thanked Alexander Lukashenko for the invitation to pay an official visit to Belarus and expressed confidence that this visit will help enhance long-term mutually beneficial cooperation of the two countries.
