MINSK, 28 August (BelTA) – Belarus and Turkey should sketch out concrete steps to realize the available cooperation potential. Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei made the statement as he met with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu on 28 August, BelTA has learned.
Vladimir Makei pointed out that there are no serious differences of opinion between Belarus and Turkey and friendly relations have been established between the two countries. Vladimir Makei believes it is important that good contacts have been established between the presidents of the two countries. It was confirmed during the meeting of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and the Turkish minister of foreign affairs earlier today. The recent visit of the Belarusian head of state to Ankara represents a good example of cooperation at the top level. Meetings of the Belarusian and Turkish heads of state have become regular over the last few years, Vladimir Makei noted. He also drew attention to the intensity of meetings of representatives of the Belarusian and Turkish ministries of foreign affairs.
Vladimir Makei underlined that today Aleksandr Lukashenko has once again confirmed the interest in advancing further cooperation with Turkey. The advancement of trade and economic cooperation is the main task.
Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu is in Belarus on a visit on 27-28 August.
