MINSK, 2 April (BelTA) – The House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus is expected to set the date for the country’s presidential election during the spring session, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly Vladimir Andreichenko said as he spoke at the opening of the spring session on 2 April, BelTA has learned.
“During the session the House of Representatives will make one more important political decision, i.e. to decide on the date for the presidential election in Belarus. It is quite natural that at such crucial moments for the country, discussions increase about the ways of its development and the effectiveness of the authorities' actions to implement the political course. Here, one of the leading roles should belong to MPs,” said Vladimir Andreichenko.
According to the speaker, the MPs should be together with their voters and should fundamentally respond to all issues related to ensuring the constitutional rights and legitimate interests of citizens. These are, first of all, employment, salaries, housing, security, ecology and reliable social guarantees.
“Along with solving purely practical issues addressed to us by voters, we need to constantly maintain a live feedback with the population, labor collectives, local authorities and work more actively in the information space. In this regard, we need to pay special attention to social networks as one of the most popular means of communication today. We have already gained some positive experience in this area. However, we need to expand this practice to keep up with the times. Dialogue is an important condition of mutual trust and consolidation, which in any complicated situation help the Belarusian state and society to find the right decisions and consistently move towards the creation of a strong and independent Belarus,” said Vladimir Andreichenko.
