MINSK, 15 July (BelTA) – Relations between Belarus and Switzerland have reached a whole new level. First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Aleksandr Turchin made the statement as he met with the co-chairwoman of the Belarus-Switzerland parliamentary friendship group Margret Kiener Nellen, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Turchin said: “Belarusian-Swiss relations are at a very high level. You have done a lot of work for the relations to reach a whole new level.”
Aleksandr Turchin said he was confident that active contacts between the countries will continue. The elevation of the Swiss diplomatic mission in Belarus up to the embassy will contribute to it among other things.
Aleksandr Turchin added: “In my opinion, there are good prospects for bilateral cooperation. We intend to hold a number of bilateral events by the end of the year.”
In turn, Margret Kiener Nellen noted that Belarus-Switzerland relations had improved considerably. “There are a lot of other steps ahead of us that we could do,” she believes.
