MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – Belarus is a good neighbor of Ukraine, Irina Gerashchenko, First Vice Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, the representative of Kiev in the working group on humanitarian affairs of the Ukraine trilateral contact group, told reporters, BelTA has learned.

“We want to sincerely thank the Republic of Belarus, who is our good neighbor and who supports the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine, for providing a neutral platform to discuss the important issues of the peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbass,” Irina Gerashchenko said.

“By hosting talks in Minsk Belarus shows real care about the Ukrainian side,” the First Vice Speaker of Parliament said.

Irina Gerashchenko said that over the months of the negotiations she has not yet had time to get to know the capital of Belarus, while some of her colleagues have already visited theaters, and museums.

“As soon as we make progress on the issues which we are dealing with we will go sightseeing around Minsk,” the First Vice Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament said.
