MOSCOW, 10 December (BelTA) – Moscow played host to a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly Commission on International Affairs, Migration Policy and Relations with Compatriots of the Union State of Belarus and Russia on 10 December, BelTA has learned.

The meeting discussed the program of concerted action of Belarus and Russia in foreign policy. "As our presidents often stressed, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Russia established a very close interaction a long time ago. In fact, these are the first ministries to start working within the joint program," said Sergei Rachkov, Chairman of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly Commission on International Affairs, Migration Policy and Relations with Compatriots, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives.

He pointed out the importance of the program of concerted action in foreign policy. "There is probably no need to mention in what world we live today. Belarus and Russia are still under intense pressure of the Western countries. We see that this pressure is not weakening. Therefore, our presidents are taking appropriate measures within the framework of the Union State to make our foreign policy more coordinated, to act in sync on international arena, and, most importantly, to ensure the defense and security of Belarus to Russia," he said.

"A short while ago, Minsk hosted a historical event – a session of the Union State Supreme State Council. During the session, it was decided to deploy Russian cutting-edge missile weapons on the territory of Belarus in the second half of 2025. As the presidents agreed, the Belarusian side keeps the right to choose targets," Sergei Rachkov recalled.

The meeting also touched upon inter-parliamentary cooperation on international platforms. "We work together in international parliamentary organizations. In particular, we discussed interaction within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the largest parliamentary organization. During the 149th session of the IPU Assembly held recently in Geneva we once again saw that the Western countries continue to use this platform to exert pressure on Russia and Belarus," he added.
