MINSK, 2 April (BelTA) - Relations between Belarus and Russia have stood the test of time and are growing stronger, Olga Timofeyeva, Deputy Chairperson of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, said as she spoke at the solemn meeting dedicated to the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia on 2 April, BelTA has learned.
“Today we see state flags flying high in the streets of Minsk and Moscow. For Belarus and Russia the unity of nations is truly a holiday. The agreement signed 20 years ago has become the basis for legal integration, the basis for bringing our peoples and states closer. Our relations have stood the test of time and are growing stronger. In fact, we have one goal, namely to make the lives of people in Russia and Belarus better,” said Olga Timofeyeva.
According to Olga Timofeyeva, the countries are most actively working on approximation of laws now. “Our main task is to ensure equal rights for Russians and Belarusians,” she said.
