MINSK, 10 June (BelTA) – Interaction between Belarus and Russia has become an example for establishing new international platforms for dialogue. The opinion was voiced by Sergei Naryshkin, Speaker of the State Duma, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, during the Assembly’s 50th session on 10 June, BelTA has learned.
Sergei Naryshkin said: “Our interaction has provided us with invaluable experience and a live example both for Eurasian economic integration and for establishing new interparliamentary international platform for dialogue.”
In his opinion, it is particularly important in current conditions when a system of unequal associations that infringe upon national sovereignty is being thrust upon the entire world. In such a system parliamentary bodies are not used for a dialogue but as an instrument of external pressure. In such a system international law, genuine interests and rights of nations become hostages of geopolitical ambitions of individual countries.
Yet Sergei Naryshkin said he believes that the brotherhood of the nations of Belarus and Russia, historical ties and spiritual values of the two countries will help overcome any trials and the MPs will continue working for the benefit of peace just the way they have been doing it up till now. Sergei Naryshkin pointed out that thanks to the Union State MPs many ideas were born to later become vital for consequent development of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. As an example he mentioned the organization of the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia.
