MINSK, 4 February (BelTA) – Belarusian forensic experts stand ready to offer assistance to Europe in the fight against drugs, Chairman of the State Forensics Committee of Belarus Andrei Shved told journalists on 4 February, BelTA has learned.
“The practices that we have in Belarus are unique. They are related to the legal mechanism for banning certain substances. The mechanism is clear and well-established. No uncontrolled substances have been detected in Belarus since April 2014 thanks to it. Our experience may be of interest to Western European countries,” Andrei Shved noted.
He added that given that the major flow of designer drugs runs generally east to west, Belarusian experts get information about new types of psychotropic substances earlier than their European colleagues.
Andrei Shved also pointed out that forensic science cannot develop within the boundaries of one single country. The practices that have been developed so far are, as a rule, available to all forensic experts around the world. “It is important that we do not lose this pace. This is why we are eager to intensify, as much as possible, our cooperation with the world’s leading centers in order to not only study European cutting-edge practices, but also share our experience,” he added.
