MINSK, 9 May (BelTA) – It is important that young people do not forget about the heroic events of the Great Patriotic War, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said when talking to the war veterans after a flower ceremony at the Victory Square in Minsk on 9 May, BelTA has learned.
Alexander Lukashenko warmly talked with veterans, asked about their worries. The number of the Great Patriotic War veterans gets fewer every year, and, as the President emphasized, it is important that the younger generation should not forget about them.
The head of state recalled that in due time a course on the Great Patriotic War was introduced in educational institutions in Belarus. It has brought results.
Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko laid a wreath at the Victory Monument in Minsk. Wreaths to the Eternal Flame were also laid on behalf of the Council of Ministers and both houses of Parliament, the heads of the ministries, representatives of the foreign diplomatic corps, youth and public associations.
The flower ceremony was followed by a march by the guards of honor and a theatrical performance.
