Belarus president upholds Moldova’s freedom of choice in international cooperation

Belarus president upholds Moldova’s freedom of choice in international cooperation

CHISINAU, 18 April (BelTA) – Moldova should be able to make its own choices about what countries and how it works with. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement after negotiations with Moldova President Igor Dodon on 18 April, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian head of state noted that a lot had been said about Moldova’s alignment with the European Union or conversely with the East. It has been said that many countries do not know how to advance cooperation with Moldova. “They have to see Moldova just the way it is. It is our guiding principle,” noted Alexander Lukashenko. The sides have worked out a cooperation algorithm with this in mind. Such tight and constructive cooperation is an example for other countries, believes Alexander Lukashenko.

“Don’t try to put small countries on their knees and make them bend this or that way. Give us an opportunity to make up our minds about who we should be together with and how we should act in the future. I applaud the formula of the Moldovan president: we should see all the good things everywhere,” stressed Alexander Lukashenko.

“We are the kindest and most desired friends for you on this way. We are ready to help you as much as we can. And as much as you want us to. That’s the entire formula of our relations,” added Alexander Lukashenko.
