MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) - The role and importance of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate in the national economy should be strengthened, head of state Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with Head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate Viktor Sheiman on 8 February , BelTA has learned.
“This is the goal we should aim for. The role of the property management directorate needs to be increased. This is the main task,” the Belarusian leader said.
The performance of the property management directorate and affiliated enterprises in 2017 and the prospects for the coming period were discussed during the meeting. It was noted that the affiliated enterprises showed good dynamics; the profitability in the agricultural and industrial sectors increased. Exports of goods and services of the enterprises affiliated with the property management directorate surged by 21.4% in 2017 over 2016. The foreign trade surplus rose by 24%.
The head of state was also updated on the directorate’s plans to develop new lines of activity, to expand the activities in the pharmaceutical industry. The porjects with partners in India and Kazakhstan are in the pipeline.
The parties also discussed the possibility of setting up an e-lottery company.
Viktor Sheiman briefed the president on the reforms in the agricultural holding company affiliated with the property management directorate, the development of a distribution network to deliver meat and dairy products to the Russian regions.
