Belarus premier sees informatization as crucial component of further development of agriculture

GRODNO DISTRICT, 7 June (BelTA) – Informatization is one of the most important components in further development of agriculture. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko mentioned it as he visited the agricultural enterprise named after I.P. Senko as part of a working trip to Grodno Oblast, BelTA has learned.

The introduction of precision farming technologies was one of the matters discussed on 7 June. Roman Golovchenko said: “Agriculture can accomplish its assigned tasks not only by precisely observing operating procedures (although it is Agriculture 101) but also by applying new technologies to make agricultural products, by developing and using new technical solutions.”

The prime minister noted that it is necessary to follow the way of intensive agriculture where it is justified: “It is necessary to improve crop yields not only by observing the requirements and applying more crop protection agents, fertilizers but also by using other technologies.”

Roman Golovchenko mentioned informatization as the most important component of development of agriculture. “The demand for the introduction of modern digital technologies in agriculture is very high. Because this approach prioritizes not the amount of resources but their rational usage and efficiency,” he stressed.

Speaking about the precision farming system, the head of government noted that it radically changes the traditional approaches to agriculture. “We saw part of it as we visited the enterprise today. The use of a comprehensive digital approach and precision farming allows improving productiveness and efficiency at every stage of agricultural work, optimizing the amount of the necessary materials, saving money, increasing yields, and respectively reducing the prime cost of products,” Roman Golovchenko stated.
