MINSK, 15 December (BelTA) – Belarus-NATO dialogue is important for strengthening peace in Europe, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Estonia to Belarus Merike Kokajev noted at the seminar “International Security and NATO in 2017” in Minsk on 15 December, BelTA informs.
Belarus-NATO cooperation in a number of projects has been becoming more and more successful, Ambassador Merike Kokajev stressed. “Belarus has an individual program of cooperation with NATO. Dialogue, including the one between Belarus and NATO, is essential for strengthening peace in Europe,” the diplomat remarked.
In her words, the Estonian Embassy, NATO’s contact point embassy in Belarus as from 1 January 2017, pays great attention to these matters, especially in the context of peace and security in Europe. “We are seeing more and more challenges and threats and we are eager to stand for the universal values of peace. We should be building our security together,” the ambassador underlined.
The seminar has been organized by the Center for Strategic and Foreign Policy Studies in cooperation with the NATO Public Diplomacy Division. The event has drawn together representatives of international organizations, government bodies and agencies, non-governmental organizations, embassies, and also experts and scientists in the field of international security.
