MINSK, 7 December (BelTA) – The decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Russia and its participation in the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang is outrageous, well-known Belarusian athlete, MP of the House of Representatives Alexander Bogdanovich told the media, BelTA has learned.
“With no Russia, will this Olympics be interesting to our continent? Will it be a fair victory or will winning athletes feel themselves heroes without the participation of the world’s strongest countries?” Alexander Bogdanovich wondered.
He confessed that he is outraged at what is happening.
According to the MP, “violations happen in all countries. It cannot be so that everything is transparent and everyone is clean. No one can vouch for all.” Every athlete has a choice to take or not to take prohibited substances. If you catch an athlete red-handed, then punish this athlete. Why do you punish the entire country,” the MP said.
As it was reported, the IOC Executive Committee disqualified the Russian Olympic Committee from the winter games. Russian athletes will compete in the 23rd Winter Olympic Games in Pyeongchang under a neutral flag.
