MINSK, 8 September (BelTA) – Bringing the Russian flag to the Paralympics opening ceremony was a display of comradery and manly behavior, spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing on 8 September.
“I am not prepared to comment on this act from the perspective of the rules of the international Paralympic movement. But that was an act of a man. What our athlete did was thoughtful, brave and comradely. If we are to be punished for such acts, so be it,” Dmitry Mironchik said.
The 15th Summer Paralympics will be held on 7-18 September. More than 4,000 athletes will compete in 528 medal events. Belarus will compete in five sport disciplines.
