BREST, 2 June (BelTA) - Belarusian products will be competitive in the EU market, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Belarus Peter Dettmar said as he met with Chairman of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Anatoly Lis, BelTA has learned.
“Belarus manufactures competitive products of very high quality. Your products could take their rightful place in the stores in Germany. I would like to note that it is not always about the price. The Germans are willing to pay good price for good quality. The problem is about the entry to the market. Searching for German partners, developing a smart strategy will help Belarusian manufacturers advance to the German market,” Ambassador Peter Dettmar said.
Chairman of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Anatoly Lis noted that one of the promising areas of cooperation between Brest Oblast and Germany is setting up joint ventures, in particular in the processing industry. “We have good vegetable, fruit and agricultural products. This is quite a basis for cooperation, for setting up joint ventures in this field,” the governor said.
The region would like to attract foreign investment and advanced technologies in the pharmaceutical, electronics, light industry, automobile and tool-making, mechanical engineering for the food processing industry. Anatoly Lis stressed that the region has favorable conditions for German business. In Brest Oblast there are 760 enterprises with foreign capital, one-third of them from Germany.
During a one-day visit to Brest Ambassador Peter Dettmar is scheduled to visit the enterprises of the Free Economic Zone Brest, Pushkin Brest State University where he will talk with students and professors. The Ambassador is also set to visit secondary school No. 7 that runs a profound German language program.
