MINSK, 26 May (BelTA) – Belarus, like nobody else, is interested in the BelNPP safety, spokesman for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Mironchik told media, BelTA has learned.
During his visit to Brussels on 23 May, Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei held talks with European Commission Vice President for Energy Union Maros Sefcovic. “The parties discussed the EU-Belarus energy dialogue, energy security in the region as a whole and in Belarus in particular. The issue regarding the construction of the nuclear power plant in Ostrovets was also raised during the meeting,” Dmitry Mironchik.
“We cooperate closely with all relevant international organizations. We are committed to do so in future. For its part, Lithuania calls publicly on us to take the steps that we have already taken or are undertaking or will in the future. We are doing this because Belarus, like no one else, is interested in the safety of the future plant and its compliance with the international standards,” Dmitry Mironchik said.
