NEW DELHI, 11 September (BelTA) – Top Belarusian and Indian science officials examined further cooperation in a wide range of fields as they held negotiations in New Delhi, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) Vladimir Gusakov told the media, BelTA has learned.

“We have discussed avenues of our cooperation in advance. Today we discussed particular steps we will make in the near future. They are about close cooperation between Belarusian and Indian scientists in various fields. Our scientists are working in powder metallurgy, chemistry of new materials, wastewater treatment, laser technologies, and fundamental research,” Vladimir Gusakov noted.

The sides will soon exchange delegations to outline new avenues of cooperation in detail and carry out the existing projects. “Good large-scale projects are taking shape. They should attract considerable funds to our country. This is why we are very interested in promoting cooperation,” Vladimir Gusakov underlined.

The scientists have found common points in space research, mechanical engineering, and electric transport. They have also agreed to work together in agricultural and biotechnology research and nanotechnologies.

During the negotiations in New Delhi, the sides reviewed cooperation in pharmaceutics. In particular, they touched upon Belarus’ collaboration with Cipla, one of the major Indian companies, which produces and sells over 2,000 items of medicines across the globe. Cipla intends to co-establish an R&D center at the NASB.

In November 2016 Belarus and India endorsed ten new joint R&D projects to be carried out in 2017-2018 in renewable energy, cancer treatment, pharmaceutics, new materials, and cryptography. The two countries have started cooperating in technology commercialization.
