MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – Belarus highly honors the Great Victory and opposes the falsification of history, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the meeting with heads of delegations partaking in the 16th session of the CIS Council of Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions on 7 June, BelTA has learned.
Welcoming the guests of Minsk Hero City, the head of state reminded about the heroic past of the country. He stressed that today’s meeting is held in the run-up to the 75th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. The President believes that the nation managed to stand out and win in that terrible war thanks to the unity and brotherly help of other Soviet republics.
The Belarusian leader stressed that Belarus honors this Great Victory more than any other state on the post-Soviet space. The country continues looking for unknown graves of Great Patriotic War soldiers; memorials are unveiled in the places of their death. “There are no abandoned monuments even in the smallest villages. They are cleaned up every year on 9 May,” the head of state said.
The President deems it necessary to remember that a very high price was paid for the Great Victory.
